Week Three


Many teams opened region play this past Friday Night. The race to the playoffs is underway. Here are a few tidbits from this week's football action around the state.

   *  UMS-Wright has the longest winning streak in the AHSAA having posted 8 consecutive victories after defeating Andalusia by a score of 17-0. Monroe Academy leads the AISA with a 17 game winning streak following a 51-20 win over Success Unlimited.

   *   Barbour County has a string of forty-three consecutive losses over the past few years. They lost to G.W. Long 50-0.

   *   Bullock County has lost 59 consecutive region games following a 41-19 loss to St. James to open region play.

   *   The Fyffe Red Devils have won 30 straight regular season games after beating Section 56-0 on Friday.

   *   Maplesville has a streak of 54 consecutive region wins. The Red Devils thumped A.L. Johnson 70-6 as they opened region play Friday night.

   *   The Volunteers of Monroe Academy have a string of 35 consecutive home wins. Fyffe leads the AHSAA schools with a 25 game home winning streak after their latest home victory.

   *   Briarwood Christian and Rogers both have won 13 consecutive road games. Chambers Academy leads the AISA schools with a 20 game road winning streak.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 52 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 236 games without being shutout.

   *  Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 200 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs will likely return to the top spot in the 7A rankings following a win over previous #1 Thompson.

   *  There were some notable shutouts this week around the state. Stanhope Elmore shutout Benjamin Russell 19-0. It marks the first shutout for the Mustangs in 96 games.

   *  Foley was shutout for the fourth consecutive game. That is something that has never happened previously for the Lions.

   *  How about the Pike Road Patriots? All they have done is win their first three football games after restarting the program this year. Congrats Patriots!

   *  The St. John Paul II Falcons have already won more games (3) than the did in the past four seasons combined.

 * North Jackson set a team record in a win 77-0 over Danville breaking the previous record set in a victory over East Lawrence 69-7 on 10/19/2007.



Points allowed in a game

 * Cornerstone Christian set a team record in a 57-7 loss to Chambers Academy breaking the previous record set in a loss to Bessemer Academy 56-13 on 8/24/2017.

 * Danville set a team record in a 77-0 loss to North Jackson breaking the previous record set in a loss to Winston County 70-24 on 10/6/2000.

 * Hanceville set a team record in a 71-8 loss to J.B. Pennington tying the previous record set in a loss to Winfield 71-6 on 10/14/2005.



Margin of Victory in a game

 * North Jackson set a team record by defeating Danville 77-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Madison County 69-0 on 10/15/1993.



Margin of Defeat in a game

 * Danville set a team record in a loss 77-0 to North Jackson breaking the previous record set when they lost to West Morgan 67-6 on 9/10/1999.



Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Mars Hill set a team record in a 62-14 victory over Hackleburg breaking the previous record set in a loss to Sulligent 52-20 on 10/6/2017.



Teams with current school record losing streaks

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 43 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
 * Calhoun has lost a team record 33 consecutive games since 10/31/2014.
 * Ellwood Christian has lost a team record 28 consecutive games since 9/17/2015.
 * Columbia has lost a team record 25 consecutive games since 10/23/2015.
 * Northside Methodist Academy has lost a team record 16 consecutive games since 10/21/2016.
 * Helena has lost a team record 10 consecutive games since 9/15/2017.
 * Gadsden City has lost a team record 6 consecutive games since 10/13/2017.

 * Asbury set a team record with a 1-2 record. That tops the previous mark of 0-10-0 in 2017.

 * Southeastern set a team record with a 2-1 record. That ties the previous mark of 2-8-0 in 2017.

 * St. John Paul II set a team record with a 3-0 record. That ties the previous mark of 3-6-0 in 2013.
