Cooks next stop was at Childersburg beginning in 1987. His first Childersburg team wound up 3-7, but then the Big Blue went 6-5, 7-4, 10-2 and 7-4, with the last two squads claiming area titles. Cook served as offensive line coach and defensive coordinator for Class AA Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa, Georgia the next year. He then left for Newton High in Covington, Ga., and led his teams to a 22-17-1 mark over four years (1992-95). He returned to Alabama in 1998, taking over the top position at Talladega High School. It was one of the few coaching stops where Cook failed to guide his teams to winning records. He stayed with the Tigers for two years (1998-99), compiling an 0-10 record his first season and 1-9 record his last season. He returned to Brookwood in the fall of 2002. After three years running the Panther football program, Cook went back to Pickens County for three season in 2005-2007. Coach Cooks coaching record in Alabama stands at 161-160-1 in 31 years as a head coach. His overall record is 183-177-2 in a 29-year career that includes stops at Childersburg High, Brookwood High, Pickens County High, Tuscaloosa County High, Newton (Ga.) High and Talladega High. |
