Scott Peavey graduated from Jacksonville State prior to beginning his career as a football coach. He landed his first head coaching job at Walter Wellborn in 1999 where in three seasons his teams went 16-16 with two playoff appearances.
Peavey moved east to Georgia and spent three seasons as the head coach at Haralson County. In 2005 he re4turned to Alabama for one season as the head coach at Ashville.
2009 saw Coach Peavey at Madison County High School for the next seven seasons.
Peavey is Madison County Highs winningest coach with a 46-34 record. The Tigers earned a playoff berth the last four seasons he was with the program, the longest such stretch in program history. That run included trips to the semifinals in 2014 (Class 5A) and 2012 (4A, program-record 12 wins).
Peavey accepted an offer to become an assistant at Oxford in 2016. The next season found him back at Haralson County where over the next seven seasons his teams finished a combined 40-23.
He again returned to Alabama to take over the football program at Etowah High in 2023.
