Week 6

After six weeks of action the region championship races are beginning to take shape in each classification. The playoffs will begin in just a few short weeks but until then there is a lot of football to be played in the final month of the 2012 season. Here are some interesting facts from this week's games.

   *  Dadeville with 24 and Tanner with 23 currently hold on to the top spots for consecutive games won on their home turf. Dadeville defeated Dallas County 46-8 while Tanner blasted Colbert Heights 69-13 on Friday night.

   *  Dadeville and Tanner also continue to share the lead with thirty-two game regular season game winning streaks.

   *  Jackson thrashed Satsuma 60-21 to increase their winning streak to a state leading twenty-one games in a row.

   *   Central Hayneville continues to top our list with forty-seven consecutive losses after a 50-12 loss to Zion Chapel.

   *   Cold Springs defeated region foe Francis Marion 22-6 to break their streak of thirty-five consecutive region losses. The new leader in this dubious list is Central Hayneville with a streak of thirty-four consecutive region losses dating back to 2007. Other notables with long region losing streaks include Cherokee (23), Bullock County (22) and Victory Christian (20).

   *   The T.R. Miller Tigers defeated Cottage Hill Christian 55-3 and have scored in 323 consecutive games.

   *  Elba has lost two games this season but fortunately they were non-region games. They have won their four region games and lead the AHSAA with a streak of twenty-seven consecutive region wins. Monroe Academy has won twenty-seven in a row in AISA. Other notables in AHSAA include.... Tanner (25), Dadeville (22), Maplesville (21) and Piedmont (21).

   *   Spring Garden started the 2012 season with six consecutive wins which is a first in the history of the school. Keith matched the streak for the first time in the history of their football team.
