Madison Academy's Malik Miller made sure the Mustangs galloped into the Super 6 for the third straight season.

Miller ran 26 times for 323 yards and two touchdowns - with 201 yards in the second half – in a 31-21 victory over Saks. For his performance, Miller is the ASWA Offensive Player of the Week.

"He showed why he's one of the best running backs in the state," Madison Academy coach Eric Cohu told AL.com.

The other two finalists also helped their teams advance to the Super 6 - Pickens County quarterback Devonte' Simon and Washington County running back DeAnthony Holcombe.

Holcombe finished with 226 yards and four TDs on 26 carries and added an interception on defense in a 28-14 victory over Sweet Water. Simon rushed for four touchdowns and threw two scoring passes in a 53-22 win over Hubbertville. He scored on runs of 1, 13, 8 and 77 yards and threw touchdown passes of 21 and 35 yards. This week's ASWA Defensive Player of the Week is Tanner's Deshun Freeman, who intercepted two passes - both in the end zone - in a 16-7 victory over Fyffe.

Freeman edged out Charles Henderson linebacker Ricahrd McBryde and Auburn defensive back Blaise Taylor for the award.

McBryde compiled 13 tackles, with seven solos, to go with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble that was returned for a touchdown in a 38-36 win over UMS-Wright. Taylor intercepted two passes in 24-21 victory over McGill-Toolen.
