Flomaton had the lead, but Mobile Christian had Tyler Rogers By Josh Bean
Flomaton jumped out to a 28-0 lead in last week's game against Class 2A No.
2-ranked Mobile Christian, but Rogers led the comeback by running for 312
yards and five touchdowns in a 42-28 victory. Rogers scored on runs of 5, 47, 19, 13 and 80 yards, and the performance made him this week's Alabama Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week.
Rogers beat out two finalists for the award - Pickens County's Jermarcus
Brown and Dale County's Jamarius Henderson. Brown rushed
230 yards on nine carries and scored
four touchdowns as the Tornadoes beat Brilliant 40-0, and Henderson rushed
for 301 yards and five touchdowns and led the defense with 10 tackles,
including three for losses, in a 52-0 victory over Montgomery Catholic.
This week's ASWA Defense/Special Teams player of the Week is Keith's Delmuss
Irby.
Irby intercepted
two
passes and scored on a 69-yard punt return in a 50-0 win over Holy Spirit.
On offense, he rushed for 42 yards on three carries and caught a 55-yard
touchdown pass.
The two
finalists for the Defense/Special Teams award are Collinsville's Kevin
McElrath and Spanish Fort's LaDarrell Pettway.
McElrath stripped the ball from a Sumiton
Christian player and returned it for a touchdown with 1:26 remaining in
regulation to tie the game at 26. The Panthers went on to claim a 33-32
victory. Pettway returned two punts for touchdowns - a 72-yarder and an
84-yarder -- as the Toros beat Faith Academy 54-0.

Birmingham, Centre, Cullman, Decatur, Demopolis, Dothan, Florence, Fort
Payne, Gadsden, Huntsville, Oneonta, Mobile, Montgomery, Talladega and

Will Appleton, Westbrook Christian:
In his first start, completed 14 of 27 passes for 273 yards and three
touchdowns in a 45-20 win over West End.
Gerrard
Beasley, Central-Florence:
Finished with 195 yards on 16 carries, including a 77-yard TD run, in a
41-16 victory over Haleyville.
Jordan
Bentley, Guntersville:
Scored four touchdowns in a 44-6 rout of St. Clair County. He scored on runs
of 2, 7, 10 and 3 yards and finished with 105 yards on 15 carries.
Shemoore Bolton, Cleburne County:
Rushed for 257 yards on 26 carries and scored on TD runs of 33, 24, 40 yards
in a 41-38 overtime victory at Cherokee County.
Maceo Booker, James Clemens: Scored second-half
touchdown runs of 9, 2 and 7 yards in a 43-35 loss to Buckhorn.
Daylon
Brackett, Jacksonville Christian:
Finished with 256 passing yards on 12-of-22 and three touchdowns and rushed
for 95 yards in a 61-23 loss to Cedar Bluff.
Adam Browner, New Hope: Threw touchdowns of 18 and 27 yards, and scored on a seven-yard
run as the Indians beat Geraldine 21-13.
Malik
Campbell, Blount:
Threw three touchdown passes, ran for two more, and finished with 342 yards
of total offense in a 35-34 in double overtime loss to Murphy.
Ronnie
Clark, Calera:
Accounted for 203 yards total offense and two touchdowns in one half of
action in Class 4A top-ranked Calera's 37-0 victory over Corner. Clark ran
for 112 yards and an 8-yard score while throwing for 91 yards, including a
17-yard touchdown pass, before missing the second half because of cramps.
LaQuarious Cook, Wenonah:
Grabbed three interceptions, including a 17-yard touchdown return in the
44-14 win over Paul Bryant.
Dalton
Cosby, Cedar Bluff:
Ran for 173 yards on 16 carries with a pair of touchdowns (20, 4 yards). He
also completed 3 of 9 pass attempts for 76 yards and a 61-yard touchdown in
the Tigers' 61-23 victory over Jacksonville Christian.
Tyler
Crumpton, Phillips:
Caught a touchdown pass, threw two TDs and ran a pair of 2-point conversions
in a 30-0 win over Vina. He also had an interception.
Cahlil
Ellis, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa:
Rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown in a 24-7 victory over Hueytown.
Dhalquille Eichelberger, East Limestone:
Ran for 155 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns in a 34-20 victory over
East Lawrence.
Calindo Fletcher, Buckhorn: Caught five passes for
182 yards and touchdowns of 87 and 38 yards in the Bucks' 43-35 win over
James Clemens.
Holden
Fields, South Lamar:
Rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on runs of 35 and 31 yards as the
Stallions snapped a 15-game losing streak with a 42-19 win over Lynn.
Jason
Futrell, Wilson:
Rushed for 170 yards and one TD in a 24-7 win over Priceville.
Tredarian Gamble, Oxford:
Had six receptions for 179 yards and two scores in the Yellow Jackets' 42-14
victory over Huntsville.

Green, Cherokee County:
Rushed for 155 yards on 20 carries and scored on a 62-yard touchdown run in
a 41-38 loss in overtime to Cleburne County.

Grisham, Lauderdale County:
Ran for
five touchdowns and finished with 163 yards, all in the first half, of a
52-6 victory over Clements. Grisham scored on runs of 4, 50, 36, 6 and 20

Matt
Hagler, Slocomb:
Rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns, including a game-winning 2-yard
TD run in overtime, and added the two-point conversion in a 36-34 win over
Barbour County. Hagler also scored on a fumble return of 10 yards on defense
and threw a two-point conversion pass.
Octaviuse Hardrick, Cottonwood:
Caught seven passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in a 39-8 win over
Wicksburg.
Cody Harrell, Lowndes Academy: Had 412 yards of total
offense in a 40-20 win over Abbeville Christian. Ran 14 times for 196 yards
and a touchdown and finished 7-of-11 passing for 226 yards and three scores.

Hatton, Kinston:
Rushed for 200 yards on 15 carries with a pair of touchdowns and caught four
passes for 72 yards in a 41-8 victory over Red Level.
Hayden
Huckabee, Marengo Academy:
Carried 15 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns, forced and recovered a
fumble for a touchdown, and threw a pair of two-point conversion passes in
37-0 victory over Patrician.
Dustin
Ingram, Fayetteville:
Rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Notasulga.
Will
Ivey, Spring Garden:
Scored four rushing touchdowns (1, 3, 1, 15 yards) in a 34-7 victory over
Coosa Christian.

James, Sparkman:
Ran for 241 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in a 34-31 loss to
Sparkman.
Dustin
Jenkins, Tuscaloosa Academy:
Rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns in the first half of a 45-36 win
over Morgan Academy.
Jordan
Johnson, Vestavia Hills:
Ran 16 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns (80 and 4 yards) in a 35-7 win
over previously unbeaten Gardendale.
Justin
Johnson, Hoover:
Caught six passes for 122 yards (20.3 yard per catch average) and a pair of
touchdowns (30 and 65 yards) in a 56-14 win over Northridge.
Demetrius Kemp, Demopolis:
Had touchdown runs of 5, 11 and 20 yards and recorded five solo tackles and
two assists in a 35-12 win over Selma.
Marcus
Key, Bessemer City:
Completed 16 of 23 passes for 104 yards and added 14 rushes for another 111
yards, including a 9-yard scoring run in the final minutes of the 28-21
upset of Tuscaloosa County.
Isaiah
"Pee Wee" Lewis, Foley:
Rushed for 258 yards and two TDs and caught a TD pass as the Lions rallied
past Enterprise 35-28.
Josh
Lewis, Pickens Academy:
Ran for two touchdowns and passed for two in a 29-7 victory over South
Choctaw Academy. Lewis ran for 127 yards on 15 carries and completed 12 of
22 passes for 128 yards.
Tevin
Madison, Fayette County:
Caught five passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns and intercepted a pass
in a 40-19 win over Sipsey Valley.
Dylan
Mackey, Sand Rock:
Completed 14 of 18 pass attempts for 212 yards and two touchdowns (60, 10
yards), including a 10-yard toss to Zane Farrar for the winning score in
double overtime, in a 30-23 victory at Section. He also rushed for 64 yards
on 13 carries with 12-yard TD and booted a 27-yard field goal.
Devonte
Marshall, Smiths Station:
Finished with 180 yards of total offense, including 152 yards and a
touchdown on 16 carries, in a 44-14 win over Jeff Davis.
Tadarryll Marshall, Leeds:
Three of his five completions went for touchdowns in a 42-0 win over
Thorsby. Marshall completed 5 of 7 attempts for 207 yards (41.4 yards per
completion average), including scores of 49, 72 and 61 yards.
Jalyn
Martin, Collinsville:
Rushed for a pair of touchdowns, including the game-tying 14-yard score in
overtime, in a 33-32 win at Sumiton Christian.
Xavier
McCollum, Winfield:
Had touchdown runs of 65 and 5 yards and scored on a 1-yard fumble return in
a 34-14 win over Cordova.
Herman
McKenzie, Tallassee:
Ran for 238 yards and four scores on 28 carries in a 28-7 victory over
Headland.
Jake
McKenzie, Monroe Academy:
Rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in a 49-13 victory
over Bessemer Academy.

Maye, Murphy:
Caught six passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns and ran nine times for 88
yards in a 35-34 double-overtime win over Blount.
Ostin
McPherson, St. Paul's:
Rushed for 170 yards and TD runs of 37 and 16 yards in a 40-7 victory over
Gulf Shores 40-7.
Austin
Mohlenbrok, American Christian Academy: Finished 12-for-12 on passing
attempts for 207 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-0 victory over Holt.
Hayden
Moore, Clay-Chalkville:
Accounted for 207 yards offense and two touchdowns in a 38-7 win over
previously unbeaten Pell City. Moore completed 10 of 13 passes for 92 yards
and a 9-yard score, and ran for 115 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown.
Montago
Morris, Carver-Birmingham:
Ran 17 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns (17 and 12 yards) in the 52-20
loss to Hewitt-Trussville.
Daniel
Murkerson, Oak Grove:
Rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns (11 and 35 yards) on 15 carries and
caught a 35-yard pass in the 49-21 win over Carbon Hill. Murkerson also
intercepted a pass and kicked five PATs in the game.
Tommy
Neely, Parker:
Passed for 210 yards on 11 of 20 completions, throwing three touchdowns (29,
17 and 27 yards) in the 30-0 win over Fairfield, breaking an 11-game losing
streak to the Tigers.
Khyree Robinson, Fultondale: Scored three touchdowns
in a 39-22 win against Walter Wellborn. He ran 15 times for 142 yards and
two scores on the ground, including a 60-yard scamper in the fourth quarter,
and his 85-yard kickoff return touchdown put the game away after Wellborn
trimmed the lead to 25-22 early in the fourth quarter.
Paul Ruiz, Etowah: Rushed eight times for 182 yards and two touchdowns on eight
carries and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a TD in a 53-7 win over
Columbia.
Harry
Satterwhite, McGill-Toolen:
Threw for 210 yards and five touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets rolled over
Davidson 56-3.
Dustin Scott, Buckhorn: Completed 11 of 21 pass for 227 yards and four touchdowns (87,
35, 38 and 20 yards), and scored on a 63-yard run in a 43-35 win over James
Clemens.
Will Scott, Sardis: Threw five touchdown passes, on 9-of-16 passing for 165 yards,
in a
51-7 victory over Douglas. He did not play in the second half.
Scott's
five TD passes covered 19, 20, 37, 11 and 29 yards.
Romie
Senior, Hatton:
Scored the winning touchdown on a 10-yard run in overtime in a 21-14 victory
over Cherokee. He finished with 109 yards and two TDs.
Moregan
Sharp, Pelham:
Scored two touchdowns (65 and 10 yards) on six carries for 117 yards (19.5
yards per carry average) in the 41-10 overtime win against Oak Mountain.
Patrick
Smith, Kinston:
Threw for 258 yards off 12-of-18 passes with two touchdowns and added 26
yards rushing and a touchdown in a 41-8 win over Red Level.
Hayden Stephens, Tanner: Rushed for 198 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries inwin at
Lexington. He also returned a kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.
Ariko Stewart, Reeltown:
Gained 242 total yards of offense, including 186 receiving, and scored
touchdowns-- three receiving and one rushing -- in a 34-30 win over Randolph
County.

Sumrall, Kingwood Christian:
Threw for 390 yards and five touchdowns on 19 of 29 passing in the 38-9 win
over East Memorial in AISA action.
Dominique Thomas, Jacksonville:
Rushed for 173 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns against No. 9 Munford.
Rasheed
Turner, Restoration Academy:
Averaged 24 yards a carry and a touchdown in AISA third-ranked Restoration's
42-14 win over Coosa Valley. Turner ran five times for 120 yards with a
20-yard scoring run.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
Bayley
Blanchard, Piedmont:
Picked
off a pair of passes in the Bulldogs' 55-7 victory over Cleveland.
Trent Brooks, Fort Dale Academy: Kicked a 37-yard field
goal on the final play of regulation and the game-winning extra point in
overtime of a 55-54 victory over Autauga Academy.
Mason Brown, Glencoe: Finished with 20 tackles and two sacks in the Yellow Jackets'
24-12 win over White Plains.
Eric
Burgess, Cherokee County:
Booted the 32-yard game-tying field goal with less than a minute to go to
force overtime in a 41-38 overtime loss to Cleburne County.
Hunter
Doppler, Corner:
Led the defense with 16 tackles in the 37-0 loss to Class 4A top-ranked
Calera.
Devonta Ferrill, Reeltown:
Had two interceptions, including one returned for TD, in a 34-30 win over
Randolph County.
Jatevin
Horn, Marengo:
Contributed 18 tackles (13 solo), two sacks and two forced fumbles in a
50-20 victory over Fruitdale. He also ran for 192 yards on 118 carries.
Anderson Jacks, Cleburne County:
Connected on 4-of- 4 field goal attempts, including the game-winning
20-yarder in overtime, in a 41-38 victory at Cherokee County. Jacks also
made field goals from 28, 29 and 35 yards.
David Jaimes, Austin: Drilled a 36-yard field goal as time expired in a 34-31 win over
Sparkman. Jaimes also hit a 26-yarder earlier in the game.
Kerryon Johnson, Madison Academy: Returned an
interception 73 yards for a score in a 45-14 win over Deshler. Johnson also
scored on a 46-yard reception.
Mason
Jones, Cullman:
Had 10 catches for 160 yards and TD, including six catches for 130 yards and
the TD in the first half, in a 14-6 victory over Hartselle.
Montel
Lee, Andalusia:
Racked up 14 tackles in a victory over, a week after recording 16 tackles
against Hillcrest-Evergreen. Martavius Mims, Muscle Shoals: Returned an interception 75 yards on the first drive of the game in a shutout of Athens, as the Trojans allowed minus-4 yards of total offense.
Trey Moon, Cullman: Had a pair of first-half interceptions inside his
own 10 in a 14-6 victory over Hartselle.
Nicarius Peterson, McKenzie:
Returned a punt 81 yards early in the fourth quarter, and added a 29-yard
touchdown run on the next series, in a 46-28 victory over Geneva County.
Peterson also had an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown earlier in the
game.
Jaret
Prater, Piedmont:
Recovered a fumble and ran it in for a 14-yard touchdown and also scored on
an 85-yard touchdown run in a 55-7 victory over Cleveland.
Montavian Rice-Jordan, Pope John Paul II:
Returned an interception 84 yards for a score in a win over Butler. He also
had an 11-yard touchdown run.

Scott, Russellville:
Recovered two fumbles and scored two offensive touchdowns in a 35-0 victory
over West Point.
Hunter Sparks, Southside: Recorded two sacks - including one on fourth down with Southside
up 14-7 and Fort Payne close to the end zone - in the fourth quarter of the
Panthers' 28-14 win over Fort Payne.
Blake
Terry, Cedar Bluff:
Returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown in the Tigers' 61-23
victory over Jacksonville Christian.
Justin
Thornton, Vigor:
Had three sacks and forced a fumble in the Wolves' 28-0 victory over B.C.

Weems, West End-Walnut Grove:
Returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown, threw a 32-yard TD pass
