The 2013 regular season is complete. On to the second season and the state playoffs. Here are a few tidbits from the final regular season weekend of high school football action. * Hoover tuned up for the playoffs with a 29-7 victory over a good Opelika team on Thursday night. The Bucs lead the AHSAA schools with a twenty-five game unbeaten streak. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA schools with a 42 game winning streak after a 57-0 victory over Lyman Ward on Friday. * Butler once again leads the AHSAA with the longest losing streak in the state with a string of twenty-nine consecutive losses. They are followed closely by Red Level (26), Bullock County (25) and Woodville (25). * Bullock County has lost 32 consecutive region games to lead the state with that unwanted honor. * Muscle Shoals lost to Bob Jones by a score of 24-23. They give up their state leading consecutive regular season winning streak after a string of twenty-four games. Well, if you guess Hoover as the team to take over the lead, you would be 100% correct. The Bucs have a twenty-one game regular season winning streak. They are joined by Edgewood Academy with a streak of 33 games in the AISA. * Tanner took the week off. They maintain their streak of 35 consecutive region wins. In the AISA, Monroe Academy continues a streak of 34 games. * Maplesville leads for most consecutive home wins with a streak of 32 games after 49-7 win over Marbury at home. Dadeville (31), Hoover (30) and Tanner (30) are close behind after this week's action. All four teams host playoff games next week. * T.R. Miller Tigers continued their string of 339 games without being shutout following a 27-6 win over Class 1A power Sweet Water. Milestones * John Mothershed won his 200th game as a head football coach. His overall record is 200-52 in 19 seasons at Deshler. The Tigers defeated North Jackson 49-20 for the milestone victory. * Hal Riddle reached the 150 win mark when the Huskies beat Gadsden City 17-14 on Friday night. His overall record at Erwin, Mortimer Jordan, Clay-Chalkville and Hewitt-Trussville is 150-89 in 21 seasons at the helm. * Larry Strain, the head football coach at Woodland, won his 100th game as a head coach. The Bobcats defeated Cleburne County 21-14 to reach the milestone. Coach Strain's overall record is 100-77 in fifteen seasons at Woodland. * Ken Adams also joined the 100 win club when the Bulldogs defeated Winfield by a score of 35-10. Coach Adams overall record stands at 100-84 in 17 seasons at Calera, Ardmore and Lamar County. Points scored in a game * Hillcrest Tuscaloosa set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Demopolis 59-60. * Chelsea set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Shelby County 64-28. * Southeastern set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Coosa Christian 40-62. * Tharptown set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Alabama School Deaf 64-34. Points allowed in a game * Crossville set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Geraldine 27-63. * Demopolis set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Hillcrest Tuscaloosa 60-59. * Hillcrest Tuscaloosa set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Demopolis 59-60. * Sumter Central set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to McGill-Toolen 20-65. * Pickens Academy set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Clarke Prep 19-59. * Southeastern set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Coosa Christian 40-62. * Stanhope Elmore set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Central Phenix City 40-66. Margin of Victory game None Margin of Defeat game None Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game * Demopolis set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Hillcrest Tuscaloosa 60-59. * Hillcrest Tuscaloosa set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Demopolis 59-60. * Sumter Central set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to McGill-Toolen 20-65. * Pleasant Valley set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Gaston 39-50. * Shelby County set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Chelsea 28-64. * Alabama Christian set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Holtville 33-61. * Central Phenix City set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Stanhope Elmore 66-40. * Charles Henderson set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Eufaula 59-42. * Southeastern set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Coosa Christian 40-62. * Spain Park set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Oxford 49-56. * Stanhope Elmore set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Central Phenix City 40-66. Teams with current school record winning streaks * Edgewood Academy has won a team record 42 consecutive games since 10/28/2010. * Madison Academy has won a team record 20 consecutive games since 10/5/2012. * Spanish Fort has won a team record 19 consecutive games since 10/11/2012. * Restoration Academy has won a team record 10 consecutive games since 8/30/2013. * Hillcrest Evergreen has won a team record 7 consecutive games since 9/20/2013. * Pope John Paul II has won a team record 2 consecutive games since 10/25/2013. Teams with current school record losing streaks * Butler has lost a team record 29 consecutive games since 9/1/2011. * Red Level has lost a team record 26 consecutive games since 9/23/2011. * Woodville has lost a team record 25 consecutive games since 9/30/2011. * Bullock County has lost a team record 25 consecutive games since 9/30/2011. * Lyman Ward has lost a team record 23 consecutive games since 10/14/2011. * Vina has lost a team record 22 consecutive games since 10/21/2011. * Cottage Hill Christian has lost a team record 21 consecutive games since 10/21/2011. * West End Walnut Grove has lost a team record 11 consecutive games since 11/2/2012. * Central Clay County has lost a team record 2 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
