Week 11

The Playoffs are here and all that remains for the 2015 season is to determine the State Champions for each classification. Here are the final tidbits from the regular season.

(Look for another edition of tidbits pertaining to the playoffs.)

   *  The Fyffe Red Devils have a string of 205 games in which they have scored dating to 10/22/1999. They extended the streak with a 49-14 win over Collinsville. Brantley is in second at 185 games followed by Calera (166), Demopolis (163) and Prattville (158).

   *  Clay-Chalkville, retains their hold on of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA at 25 games after defeating Hewitt-Trussville 53-35 to cap off a perfect 10-0 season. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 68 game winning streak following a 58-14 beat down of Fort Dale Academy this week.

   *   Holly Pond capped of a 1-9 season but accomplished one goal of winning a game. They broke the longest losing streak in the state at 29 games by defeating Cold Springs 49-40. The dubious streak now belongs to Wilcox Central with a string of 25 consecutive losses. Sadly the Jaguars have completed the season and will have to live with the streak during the off season. Right behind Wilcox Central are Houston County (24), Barbour County (23) and Russell County (22).

   *   Bullock County has lost 46 consecutive region games.

   *   Guntersville stretched their regular season winning streak to 28 games following a 37-0 shutout of rival Albertville. Edgewood Academy has won 53 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 47 consecutive region wins heading into the playoffs. Their last region loss came in 2009 against Lexington.

   *   Muscle Shoals has a string of 36 straight home field wins over the past five seasons after defeating Buckhorn 28-0 on the road.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 23 consecutive road games following their home win over Citronelle to wrap up another undefeated regular season. Edgewood Academy has a string of 39 straight wins on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 72 straight games. The Cougars also hold the state record for scoring at least 30 points in consecutive games with a string of 30. They added another record this week when they tied the 2004 Demopolis Tigers for scoring 50+ points in six consecutive games. All are AHSAA state records.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 29 straight games in the AISA. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 67 consecutive games.

   *   Beauregard put up 82 points on Russell County in a 82-36 win. It matches Parker's 82-0 win over Dora for the most points scored in a games this season.

   *   West Point upset #8 Priceville 49-21. It is their first win over a ranked team since 2008. Sand Rock also upset #2 Cedar Bluff 16-13 on Thursday for their first victory over a ranked team since 2009.

   *   Leeds won the 500th game in school history according to our records. Their overall records stands at 500-394-27. We are still missing some games for Leeds so their overall record is incomplete.

   *   Allen Creasy finally got his 100th win after struggling all season to pick it up. His overall record stands at 100-88 in 16 years at the helm in Athens.

   *   Drew Noles also joined the 100 win list this week. His record in 16 seasons at Etowah and Boaz sits at 100-75.
