Week 7

The 2015 regular season is winding toward the playoffs. Here are a few tidbits from week seven action.

   *   It seems the Hoover Bucs have been the focus of these articles for a very long time and this week is no different. Well not exactly. This week the Bucs saw several streaks end. Their consecutive game scoring streak ended at the hands of Spain Park by a score of 17-0. The loss put a stop to their streak at 321 games dating to 9/27/1991. The loss also snapped a 43 game winning streak against in-state teams.

   *  The new leader is none other than the Fyffe Red Devils with a string of 201 games dating to 10/22/1999. Brantley is in second at 181 games followed by Calera (162), Demopolis (159) and Prattville (154).

   *  Clay-Chalkville, retains their hold on of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA at 21 games after beating up on Center Point 56-0. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 65 game winning streak following a 49-0 dismantling of Macon-East Academy.

   *   Holly Pond has lost twenty-six consecutive football games after a 49-24 loss to Winston County. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 43 consecutive region games in a row following a 38-16 loss to Andalusia.

   *  Guntersville stretched their regular season winning streak to 24 games after edging Etowah 21-20 on Friday night.. Edgewood Academy has won 50 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 45 consecutive region wins after beating Tarrant 56-2.

   *   Muscle Shoals has a string of 35 straight home field wins over the past five seasons after defeating Hartselle 28-7 on the road.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 21 consecutive road games following their win over Baldwin County on their home turf. Edgewood Academy has a string of 37 straight wins on the road after winning on the road Friday.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 68 straight games. The Cougars also hold the state record for scoring at least 30 points in consecutive games with a string of 26. Both are AHSAA state records.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 26 straight games in the AISA. That mark ties their record 26 game streak between 2011-12. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 64 consecutive games.

   *   The Brantley Bulldogs won their 500th game sort of..... We are missing a lot of scores from the Bulldogs early years. Still it is a milestone on AHSFHS.org. Their overall record stands at 500-265-12.

   *   Chris Yeager, the head football coach at Mountain Brook won his 100th game as a head coach and has a record of 100-58 at West Blocton, Walker and Mt. Brook in 14 seasons.

   *   Something new we will be adding to the Tidbits each week..... We will mention teams that pulled off memorable upsets of ranked teams and the last time they pulled it off if it has been a while. We will also mention the last time a team was shutout and the last time a team shutout an opponent if those two have not happened recently. So here we go.....

   *  Notasulga defeated #6 Loachapoka 24-6. It is the school's first victory over a top ten team since the 2001 season. They were 0-5 previously.
