Week 9

Playoff spots are on the line this week as teams prepare for state championship runs. Here are a few tidbits from week nine action.

   *  The Fyffe Red Devils have a string of 203 games in which they have scored dating to 10/22/1999. They extended the streak with a 62-3 win over West End. Brantley is in second at 183 games followed by Calera (164), Demopolis (161) and Prattville (156).

   *  Clay-Chalkville, retains their hold on of the longest winning streak in the AHSAA at 23 games after defeating Woodlawn 72-6. Edgewood Academy leads the AISA school with a 67 game winning streak following a 61-7 dismantling of Springwood.

   *   Holly Pond has lost twenty-eight consecutive football games after another close loss to Hanceville 60-50. The streak is not close to the longest in state history behind R.C. Hatch at 68 losses in a row.

   *   Bullock County has also lost 45 consecutive region games in a row following a 45-22 loss to Straughn.

   *   Guntersville stretched their regular season winning streak to 26 games without taking the field this week. They were awarded a forfeit by the AHSAA against Butler. Edgewood Academy has won 52 consecutive regular season games in the AISA.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 46 consecutive region wins after beating R.A. Hubbard 76-6 in a non-region game. 

   *   Muscle Shoals has a string of 36 straight home field wins over the past five seasons after taking the week off.

   *   Spanish Fort has won 22 consecutive road games following their road win over rival Daphne by a score of 35-13. Edgewood Academy has a string of 38 straight wins on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars have scored at least twenty points in 70 straight games. The Cougars also hold the state record for scoring at least 30 points in consecutive games with a string of 28. Both are AHSAA state records.

   *   Edgewood Academy has scored at least thirty points in 28 straight games in the AISA. Edgewood has also scored at least twenty points in 66 consecutive games.

   *   Decatur Heritage Christian did something for the first time in team history. They defeated a ranked team by edging #3 Hackleburg 9-8 on Friday night..

   *   Greenville won the 500th game in school history according to our records which are incomplete for the school. Their overall records stands at 500-374-22 but we are still missing scores for the school.

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
