The Winningest Programs

Which team has the most wins among the football programs of all-time in Alabama? Until this past week most everyone believed it to be the T.R. Miller Tigers of Brewton. According to our research they had accumulated 651 wins since beginning their football program back in 1926.
Over the past few years there had been some doubt about the Tigers leading the pack with their 651 wins since so many other teams had yet to be researched. A few weeks ago my suspicions became reality when Bill Plott sent me a couple more notebooks filled with his research. One of the books contained information from Blount, Walker and Cullman Counties and included the team I had suspected would eventually become the all-time wins leader in Oneonta.
It seems, with the addition of Mr. Plott's research, that the Redskins pushed past T.R. Miller with a record of 658-322-32 since first fielding a football team back in 1907. The Tigers have held first place for the past few years with an overall record of 651-301-20. Thirty-four of Oneonta's wins came before Miller put their first team on the field almost twenty years later.
So this leaves us here at AHSFHS.org with the Oneonta Redskins claiming the most wins all-time right? Well not so fast. There are other teams that could possibly lay claim to that prestigious title in the future. One team that I believe could possibly top both Oneonta and Miller would be the Enterprise Wildcats.
Currently Enterprise has a record of 624-281-34 according to our previous research and the help of others. But, we are still missing scores for at least 56 games between 1913-1937. The Wildcats would need to find an additional 35 wins from those games to top our list. It is possible for them to do just that or come very close.
Any other team eventually topping the list would be a longshot at best. I honestly believe it will come down to these three teams if additional games are found for them.
