Week 4


The 2016 season is fast approaching the halfway mark! Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *  The Leeds Green Wave extended their state leading winning streak to 16 after defeating Dadeville 46-14. Bessemer Academy leads all AISA schools with a streak of 17 consecutive wins following a 46-3 win over Tuscaloosa Academy.

  *   Lee Huntsville upset #9 Brooks 34-28 Friday night. It marked their first victory over a ranked team since a 18-7 win over Red Bay in 2008. Citronelle also pulled off the upset as they defeated their first ranked team since 2008 with a 35-24 win over #9 Leroy.

   *   The Central Hayneville defense pitched a shutout in a 54-0 win over Calhoun. It was their first shutout since the 2003 season.

   *   Florence was shutout by Hartselle 13-0 marking the first time they have not scored in a game since the 2006 season some 112 games ago.

   *   Russell County leads the state with a string of twenty-six straight losses following a 42-14 loss to Sidney Lanier.

   *   Bullock County has lost 47 consecutive region games after falling to Ashford by a score of 27-26.

   *   The Guntersville Wildcats saw their 30 straight regular winning streak snapped in a 14-7 loss to Etowah. G. W. Long takes over the lead on this list with a 28 game regular season winning streak.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 49 consecutive region wins. The Rattlers defeated Winston County 56-8 in region play.

   *   Guntersville still leads with a string of 21 consecutive home wins after their road loss at Etowah.

   *   Red Bay, with a string of 16 consecutive road victories, leads all other football teams as road warriors after a 30-7 defeat of Hatton on the road.

   *   The Clay-Chalkville Cougars had scored at least twenty points in 80 straight games by all that came to an end on Friday as Pinson Valley held them to only 14 points as Pinson won 21-14. The streak is a state record which will stand for a long time.

   *   Fyffe, who beat Westbrook Christian 50-3, extended their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 214 games without being shutout.

   *  Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 178 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs seem to be hitting their stride after a 26-8 thumping of rival Spain Park.

   *   Andro Williams, the head football coach at Linden picked up his 100th win in a 69-0 victory over McIntosh. His overall record stands at 100-22.

 * Meadowview Christian set a team record in a win 69-12 over Chilton Chistian breaking the previous record set when they defeated Evangel Family Christian 68-34 on 8/29/2014.

 * Brilliant set a team record in a 76-20 loss to Holy Spirit breaking the previous record set when they lost to Marion County 72-0 on 1930.

 * Pickens Academy set a team record in a 62-6 loss to Escambia Academy breaking the previous record set when they lost to Edgewood Academy 61-0 on 11/7/2014.



Margin of Victory in a game

 * Section set a team record by defeating Asbury 60-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Spring Garden 68-16 on 10/29/2004.

 * Sipsey Valley set a team record by defeating Holt 53-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Greene County 41-0 on 10/11/2013.



Margin of Defeat in a game

 * Autaugaville set a team in a loss 73-0 to Isabella breaking the previous record set when they lost to Orrville 62-0 on 10/31/1947.



Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Winterboro set a team record by defeating Donoho 55-35 breaking the previous record set when they defeated White Plains 49-41 on 10/26/2007.

 * Mae Jemison has won a team record 3 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 25 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
