2017 Research Update

Recently I received several notebooks after visiting with Bill Plott while he vacationed in Gulf Shores. A couple of the notebooks contained basketball information including coaches and won/lost records for all the teams outside the Birmingham area. The new information allowed us to fill in a lot of blanks for these teams.
Another notebook contained the same information for girl's basketball. While I have been able to enter all the information for the Boy's, I have not yet completed the girl's notebook.
The final notebook held information for the AIAA school before they merged with the AHSAA in 1969. I spent about 60-70 hours going through this one and gathering the scores, coaches and game dates for our records. That notebook has been entered into our databases. All told, we were able to add over one thousand scores that had previously been missing for the AIAA schools along with hundreds of coaches.
The AIAA notebook also went a long way toward straightening out confusion among some of the teams that changed names. A lot of coaches, mascots and team colors were found too.
There are still a couple of boxes with file folders that I will go through as time allows. A quick glance reveals folders with clippings for coaches from every sport over the past 50 years. Hundreds of them it appears.
Once again, our thanks to Bill for sharing all this information with us. It keeps me busy.
