Championship Week


The 2017 high school football season is over. Here is a wrap up of the season's action.

   *   Lanett and Pinson Valley have the longest winning streak at fifteen games Monroe Academy in the AISA has a fourteen game streak.

   *   Barbour County still has the state's longest losing streak at forty-one games.

   *   Bullock County closed out their 2017 region play and has lost 58 consecutive region games.

   *   Fyffe will try to extended their 28 game regular season winning streak but will need to wait until next season.

   *   The state's longest region winning streak also belongs to Maplesville who has a string of 52 straight region victories.

   *   Piedmont saw their twenty-seven game home winning streak come to an end in the semi-finals with a loss to Randolph County. Fyffe now has the longest streak at 23 games followed by McGill-Toolen with 20 straight home victories. Monroe Academy (34) lead the AISA schools.

   *   The McGill-Toolen Yellow Jackets now own the longest road winning streak with 18 consecutive road victories.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 51 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 234 games without being shutout.

   *   Hoover won the 13th state playoff championship. The Bucs defeated McGill-Toolen for their eleventh title since the 200 football season. They have also appeared in all but two of the title games during that span.

   *   Pinson Valley won the first championship in the school's history by beating Wetumpka 31-10.

   *   St. Paul's brought another title back to Mobile, the fourth in the school's history, by defeating Briarwood by a score of 17-14.

   *   UMS-Wright joined their rival in winning their seventh state championship by beating Fayette County 21-7 in Tuscaloosa.

   *   Hillcrest Evergreen won the first ever football championship by outscoring Randolph County 26-14.

   *   Lanett became the third team to win their first title this season when they defeated Leroy 33-15 for the Class 2A championship.

   *   Sweet Water won the tenth championship in school history by beating Pickens County 20-6.
