Week 3


The 2017 season in in full swing. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *   Maplesville has the state's longest winning streak at 25 games following a 50-18 thrashing of Notasulga.

   *   Barbour County did not play this week but still has the state's longest losing streak at thirty-three games.

   *   Bullock County has lost 53 consecutive region games in a row following a 38-12 loss to region foe Alabama Christian.

   *   Fyffe extended their 20 game regular season winning streak with another shutout victory over Asbury by a score of 62-0.

   *   Tanner has a streak of 54 consecutive region wins. The Rattlers, under head coach Maurice Belser, opened region play with a 28-10 win over West End.

   *   Piedmont has the state's longest home winning streak at twenty-one games. The Bulldogs defeated Glencoe by a score of 61-14. Monroe Academy (28) lead the AISA schools.

   *    Maplesville has won 23 consecutive road games following their impressive victory this past weekend.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 40 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 223 games without being shutout. The Red Devils defeated Asbury by a score of 62-0.

   *   St. Luke's upset #7 Luverne for their first victory over a ranked team ever.

   *   Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 188 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs are the #2 team in Class 7A.

   *   Rodney Stidham won his 100th game as a head football coach on Friday as Hamilton defeated rival Haleyville 28-21.

   *   According to our record two schools picked up their 500th victory on Friday. Linden (500-320-30) and Reeltown (500-281-13) joined the 500 Club.

 * St. Lukes set a team record in a win 57-12 over Luverne breaking the previous record set in a victory over Cottage Hill Christian 56-21 on 11/2/2012.

 * Glencoe set a team record in a 61-14 loss to Piedmont breaking the previous record set in a loss to Collinsville 55-0 on 1922.



Margin of Victory in a game

 * Austin set a team record by defeating Decatur 49-0 breaking the previous record set when they defeated Brewer 55-7 on 11/2/1979.

 * Maplesville has won a team record 25 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Fyffe has won a team record 17 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.

 * Barbour County has lost a team record 33 consecutive games since 10/25/2013.
 * Center Point has lost a team record 20 consecutive games since 9/18/2015.
 * Ellwood Christian has lost a team record 19 consecutive games since 9/17/2015.
 * White Plains has lost a team record 17 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Columbia has lost a team record 14 consecutive games since 10/23/2015.
 * Houston Academy has lost a team record 12 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
