Week 6


The 2017 regular season is half done. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *   Maplesville has the state's longest winning streak at 28 games following another shutout win over Dallas County by a score of 63-0.

   *   Barbour County lost to McKenzie by a score of 35-0 and still has the state's longest losing streak at thirty-six games.

   *   Bullock County has lost 54 consecutive region games following a 34-6 loss to non-region foe B.T. Washington.

   *   Fyffe extended their 23 game regular season winning streak with a victory over Plainview by a score of 43-27.

   *   The state's longest region winning streak also belongs to Maplesville who has a string of 49 straight region victories.

   *   Piedmont has the state's longest home winning streak at twenty-three games. The Bulldogs won a big game over Leeds by a score of 41-19. Monroe Academy (31) lead the AISA schools.

   *    Maplesville has also won 24 consecutive road games following their impressive victory on their homefield this past Friday night.

   *   Maplesville has scored twenty or more points in 43 consecutive games.

   *   Fyffe hopes to avoid the dreaded shutout and extend their streak of consecutive games scoring. They are currently sitting on a string of 226 games without being shutout.

   *   Enterprise was shutout by Theodore by a score of 39-0. It was the first time in 153 games that they had failed to score.

   *   Sidney Lanier upset rival Jeff Davis who was the #8 team in Class 7A. It was their first victory over a ranked team since the 2006 season. Vinemont pulled off a big win over Addison, the $9 team in 1A. It was their first win over a ranked team since 1992.

   *   Hoover has been ranked by the ASWA for an amazing 191 consecutive polls dating back to the 2000 season. The Bucs are the #2 team in Class 7A.

 * Westminster Christian set a team record in a win 66-36 over Hayden breaking the previous record set in a victory over St. Bernard 59-0 on 8/29/2008.

 * Florence set a team record in a 55-31 loss to Bob Jones breaking the previous record set in a loss to Clay-Chalkville 53-48 on 8/19/2016.

 * Gadsden City set a team record in a 65-21 loss to Park Crossing breaking the previous record set in a loss to Auburn 49-24 on 9/28/2012.

 * Mary Montgomery set a team record in a 66-7 loss to Auburn tying the previous record set in a loss to UMS-Wright 66-39 on 9/24/2010.



Margin of Defeat in a game

 * Center Point set a team record in a loss 59-0 to Hewitt-Trussville breaking the previous record set when they lost to Hewitt-Trussville 64-7 on 9/7/2001.

 * Gadsden City set a team record in a loss 65-21 to Park Crossing breaking the previous record set when they lost to Hoover 42-7 on 11/21/2014.



Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Geneva County set a team record in a loss 59-50 to Highland Home breaking the previous record set when they defeated Clio 95-0 on 10/20/1922.

 * Hayden set a team record in a loss 66-36 to Westminster Christian breaking the previous record set in a loss to Mortimer Jordan 60-36 on 10/21/2016.

 * Highland Home set a team record in a 59-50 victory over Geneva County breaking the previous record set when they defeated New Brockton 62-35 on 10/4/2013.

 * Maplesville has won a team record 28 consecutive games since 10/2/2015.
 * Fyffe has won a team record 20 consecutive games since 8/26/2016.

 * Mars Hill set a team record with a 4-2 record. That tops the previous mark of 2-8-0 in 2015.

 * Decatur Heritage Christian has never started 5-0 in a season.
 * Houston County last started a season 6-0 in 2001.
 * Pinson Valley last started a season 6-0 in 2002.
 * Sidney Lanier last started a season 6-0 in 2000.
 * Thompson last started a season 5-0 in 1989.

 * Carver Birmingham last started a season 4-1 in 2003.
