The 2018 Super Seven begins on Wednesday. Here are a few tidbits
from this week's action.
* UMS-Wright has the longest winning streak in the AHSAA having posted
18 consecutive victories following a 24-3 win over Andalusia.
* The Volunteers of Monroe Academy have a string
of 40 consecutive home wins. Fyffe leads the AHSAA
schools with a 31 game home winning streak after defeating Aliceville 49-8.
* Hokes
Bluff and Randolph County have both won 12 consecutive road games. Chambers Academy leads the AISA schools with a 22
game road winning streak.
* Maplesville had scored
twenty or more points in 63 consecutive games before falling to Lanett by a
score of 16-8.
* The Fyffe Blue Devils continue to score each
and every game. They extend their
streak of consecutive games scoring to 248 games.
* Central Clay County, Flomaton and Mars
Hill won semi-final playoff games for the first time in their school's history.
* The above teams along with Linden and
Saraland have never won a playoff state championship. Thompson last won in 1982,
Central Phenix City (1993), Luverne (1997), Deshler (1999), Vigor (2008),
Piedmont (2016) and Fyffe (2016). UMS-Wright and Pinson Valley are seeking to
repeat as state champions.
* Piedmont is 3-0 in the state championship games.
UMS-Wright is 7-1.
