  2022 Predictions

Class 1A is always the most difficult to predict. One player here and there can make a huge difference in how a team will perform throughout the season and the playoffs. One thing is certain this year as two newcomers appear on the horizon in 1A in the form of Elba and Spring Garden. The competition will be tougher come November.

With the addition of Elba and Spring Garden to the mix things should be exciting for all involved in 2022. Addison also drops down a class and could be in the mix for a championship late in the season. But it will be the usual suspects that will determine the outcome of 1A. Sweet Water, Brantley, Maplesville and Pickens County will all be there when the playoffs begin.

Without a doubt Keith was the Cinderella team of 2021. Coach Lumpkin hopes to build upon the success and instill in the program a winning attitude for years to come. Who will be the team that shocks the world this year? Rumors are it could be Meek, Linden or Notasulga.

Region one has one team, Millry, that finished last season with a winning record. But they are not the favorite to win the region. Lerory forfeited five games in 2021 and should bounce back to being a playoff team this season. Regions two and four have five teams that finished 2021 with a winning record. Look for Elba and Brantley to fight it out for not only the region crown but possibly a state championship.
