2013 6A State Championship Game - Hoover vs. Auburn
The AHSAA will start the 2022 football season with a couple of great matchups at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery on Thursday August 18th and Friday the 19th. On Thursday Helena will meet Chelsea in a game between two playoff teams from last season. Helena (9-2) won the region three title while Chelsea (4-7) lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Chelsea will make the move to 7A this year under head football coach Dustin Goodwin. Helena will be out to defend their region championship under the direction of coach Richie Busby. The Helena Huskies did defeat Chelsea last season in week two by a score of 27-14.
Friday night the Hoover Bucs (12-1) will face off against Coach Keith Etheredge's Auburn Tigers (12-1) in a game that will go a long way in determining if these two teams can dethrone Thompson and Central Phenix City as the dominate teams in 7A.
The Bucs are 4-0 in Kickoff Classic games while the Auburn Tigers are 1-0 having defeated Spain Park in 2010.
