The AHSFHS Power Ratings are just that.
It is not a popularity poll. The ratings use algorithms to determine
the strength of teams. It looks at the entire schedule, the strength of
that schedule and how each team performed against the schedule they have
played. Just because one team beat another team does not necessarily
mean they will be rated higher.
Once again instead of a top ten this week we will show the Power Ratings
for all the
teams remaining after the third round of the playoffs.
Only two teams remain in 7A. Mountain Brook remains
at the top of 6A along with Pleasant Grove in 5A.
There were a few upsets and surprises in
the lower classifications where we saw a shakeup in 3A. Mobile Christian
takes over from Gordo at the top of 3A. Since the Power Ratings do not
take into account forfeited games Mobile Christian is seen as the
strongest team in 3A this week. Fyffe still rates as the best team in 2A
and Millry remains at the top of 1A.
Upsets will happen once the playoffs
begin. Many games are separated by a slim margin which makes predicting
the outcome difficult. Most games next week will have spreads of less
than seven points.
Use the Power Ratings for the purpose intended. They are for
entertainment only. It is just something for the fans to talk
about between games. I hope you enjoy seeing them and do not get upset
because your team is not rated as high as you think they should. Just
win! That is the most important thing.
Thanks for visiting AHSFHS.org and I hope you enjoy what we do here.
