Week Ten Tidbits & Records

Most playoff spots and region championships have been determined. Here are a few tidbits from this week's action.

   *  The AFHSHS.org Power Ratings Top Ten and the scoring averages for every team will be available by Sunday. If you missed any of the football action we will give you a weekly rundown of everything.

   *  You may notice we are tracking the teams who have clinched region titles and playoff spots now. Look for them in the Region Standings. Playoff brackets are also updated.

   *  The biggest games of the week were also some of the biggest games of the year. Hoover held off Thompson 9-0. Theodore scored late to defeat Saraland 27-26. Faith Academy fell to UMS-Wright 21-20. Catholic Montgomery proved why they are #1 by beating Andalusia 45-23. Priceville beat Randolph 35-21. Millry beat Leroy 36-14 and Reeltown used a two-point conversion to defeat Highland Home 8-7.

   *  Fifteen ranked teams lost this week but twelve of those losses were to other ranked schools. The biggest surprise was Huntsville shocking Austin 38-24. Another surprise was Baker knocking off Fairhope 42-10.

   *  Oakman was shutout by Winfield 43-0. It was the first time since 2009 and 156 games the Wildcats had failed to score in a game. Thompson was shutout for the first time since losing to Hoover 20-0 in 2016.

   *  Priceville knocked off #10 Randolph 35-21. It is their first victory over a ranked opponent since the 2015 season and only their second ever. J.B. Pennington defeated #10 Southeastern for their first victory over a ranked opponent since they beat Addison 28-11 in the 2007 playoffs.

   *  Thirteen teams scored over 60 points in their wins. In a wild one, Lexington set a couple of team records by overwhelming Sheffield 75-27. Also Elmore County outscored Holtville 63-48.
