Paul Terry
Paul Terry, a native of Moulton, Alabama, was an outstanding high school football player at Decatur High School. He was named co-captain of the 1952 team as a senior.
Upon graduation from high school he signed a scholarship to play for the Auburn Tigers and Shug Jordan in 1953.
Terry did see his dream of playing college football come true as he played for the Tigers from 1954-56 earning three varsity letters as an offensive lineman.
Following graduation from Auburn, Terry began his gridiron coaching career as an assistant coach at Andalusia High School in 1957.
After three years at Andalusia and three more as an assistant at Enterprise under Morris Higginbotham, he finally got his first head coaching job at Enterprise in 1962.
His Wildcat teams managed eleven winning seasons over his twelve year career at Enterprise.
Terrys 1972 team finished the regular season undefeated at 10-0 before losing in the first round of the playoffs. His record at Enterprise was 84-34-3 when he took his coaching talents to Florala in 1974.
His five Florala teams combined for a 40-11-1 record with three playoff appearances. The 1977 team made it to the semi-finals before losing to Handley 27-21. In 1979 he moved over to Carroll High School in Ozark where he would remain the next 13 years until his retirement following the 1991 season.
Terry garnered several honors for his coaching receiving the South Alabama Coach of the Year Award in 1963 and 1967. In 1973 he helped coach the South team in the Alabama High School Athletic Association All-Star game.
