Summary: Russellville slipped by Colbert County 13-6 to claim the first ever Class 3A state playoff title.
A 70 yard punt return in the third period by Terry Pounders
would be the winning touchdown for the Golden Tigers. Colbert
County would outgain the Tigers 182-88 but were unable to
capitalize on the yardage advantage.
Russellville also scored in
the second period on a one yard run by Jeff Fuller after Dan
Gonzalez had recovered a fumble at the Colbert County three yard
line. Colbert County would get on the scoreboard in the second quarter on a 59 yard drive and a Jimmy Israel 5 yard run.
