Game: Played Friday December 5, 1970 at Rams Field
in Fairfax
Summary: It was a battle of not only potent
teams but one of former Crimson Tide teammates in coaches Tom Calvin and Doug Lockridge.
This one would belong to the Valley Rams as they won a heart
stopper over the Aggies of Sylacauga 23-16 in Fairfax. Junior
running back Jerry Brown led the way for the Rams as he ran for
218 of Valley's 280 yard total, scored twice himself and
intercepted two passes.
Brown rushed for 161 yards and caught
two passes for another 57 yards. The Rams would open things up
on their first possession with a 17 play 68 yard drive
culminated by a Brown touchdown. Shepard would gain the next
score on a five yard run after an interception for a quick 13-0
lead.
Valley would lead 20-8 at the half and hold on for the
win. Randy Billingsley would lead the Aggies with 60 yards
rushing on 14 carries and catch five passes for another 67
yards.
