Summary:

Defending Class 3A state champs Athens can still lay claim to the title but must share it with Andalusia after the two teams fought 48 minutes to a 7-7 tie. Andalusia previously lost in the title game in 1973 and again last season to Athens. Adolph Cosby scored on a 10 yard run with 2:13 left in the first half to put the Eagles up at halftime.
Andalusia would come back with a Bobby Johnson two yard run in the third period to tie the score. Andalusia made a valiant effort late in the game when they reached the Athens 32 yard line but a long field goal try was short. Johnson led Andalusia with 98 yards on 26 carries and Anderson chipped in 65 yards on 11 carries.
Cosby gained 73 yards on 16 carries to pace the Eagles while Parker had 57 on 13 tries.
