Summary:
Darryl Landrum scored
four times and rushed for 134 yards on 23 carries to lead the
Sweet Water bulldogs to their third state championship in five
years. Akron turned the football over four times to assist the
Bulldogs on their way.
Akron got on the
scoreboard first on their second offensive play when Walter
Bryant ran 65 yards for a touchdown with 10:56 remaining in the
first quarter. The Bulldogs answered with a long drive and a one
yard run by Landrum for a 7-6 lead. It would be all the points
Sweet Water need on the evening.
The Bulldogs score twice
in the third quarter and twice in the final stanza to put Akron
away.
