Summary:
          Arthur Johnson burst 33 yards off left tackle for the winning touchdown with 11:37 remaining in the football game to give Thompson their first ever state championship. Johnson missed the first eight games of the season before returning in time to lead Thompson to the title.
          Johnson carried 11 times for 79 yards while fullback Demetrius Threatt gained 136 yards on 24 carries to lead Oxford. The Yellow Jackets scored first on a 21 yard field goal only to see Thompson come back to take an 8-3 halftime lead.
          Oxford regained the lead on a Craig Akin 27 yard pass interception return for a touchdown and an 11-8 lead before the late heroics by Johnson in the fourth quarter.
