Summary:
Colbert County used an
aggressive defense and an explosive offense to stop Dora 26-13
in the Class 5A state championship football game. The Indians
capitalized on an early Dora fumble to score their first
touchdown on a 30 yard run by George Alexander with just four
minutes gone in the game.
Chris Craft added another score
on a 1 yard run in the first quarter. Dora answered when Elisha Gaines
returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. Following
a short punt by Dora, the Indians scored in two plays from the
31 yard line. Chris Boyd scored on the second play of the drive
to give Colbert County a 20-7 halftime lead.
Dora scored with just 34
seconds remaining in the game to make the final score 26-13 in
favor of the Indians.
