1987 State Championship Final Summaries
All six south Alabama schools would claim championships in 1987. A feat not
repeated until 2007.

Game: Played Friday December 4, 1987 at Lou Scales Stadium, Alexandria
Summary:
Tyrone Dejarnett scored all four
of Elmore County's touchdowns as the Panthers defeated
Alexandria to lay claim to the 4A state championship. Alexandria
fumbled the opening kickoff and Dejarnette scored on a 15 yard
run with 11:09 remaining in the first quarter. Following a 6
yard run by Valley Cub running back Lonnie Ball, Dejarnette
scored again on an 11 yard run with 1:59 remaining in the first
quarter.
Dejarnette would finish the evening with 196 yards on
34 carries and would later add touchdown runs of 2 and 32 yards
in the fourth quarter to clinch the win. Elmore County had 321
yards rushing while holding the Valley Cubs to 107 yards of
total offense.
The win was the third championship for Elmore
County after winning titles in 1976 and 1978. They also would
set a school record with the 13 win season. Alexandria won a
state title in 1985
