Game: Played Saturday December 4, 1999 at Legion Field, Birmingham
 
Summary:
      
Clay-Chalkville won a state championship in only the fourth year of the school's existence by defeating Robert E. Lee of Montgomery 30-27 in overtime. Lee trailed 24-17 late in the fourth quarter but drove 82 yards in 14 plays to force the overtime period when Antonio Jones scored on a 2 yard touchdown run with 36 seconds remaining in regulation.

      Ken Johnson set up the game tying run with an 18 yard completion to Ed Williams to the 2 yard line. The Generals had to settle for a 26 yard field goal by Lance Lieb in their portion of overtime. The Cougars would waste no time when Stoudmire ran the ball in from 10 yards out on their first play in overtime.

      Antonio Jones led the Generals with 155 yards rushing on 30 carries and scored on a 50 yard run. Tavarous Doyle was named the MVP after running for 98 yards and catching 5 passes for another 69 yards and three touchdowns.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
