Summary:
Chad Gibbons ran for 119 yards on
13 carries and teammate Willie McLemore gained 107 on 20
carries. For his efforts Gibbons was named the MVP. Pisgah
scored first on an 18 yard run by Chad Hawkins with 8:28
remaining in the first quarter but Clay County would come back
to take a 12-7 halftime lead on touchdowns by Adrian Glenn and
McLemore.
Rashad Ward would pad the lead with a 31 yard punt
return to up the lead to 20-7. Gibbons also added a couple of
interceptions on defense and added the finishing touches to the
win with a 29 yard touchdown run with 9:39 remaining to be
played.
The Eagles were led by quarterback Dusty Roden with 50
yards rushing and 38 yards passing while completing only 2 of 10
attempts. The 13 wins were the most ever by a Pisgah team and this was their first title game appearance in fourteen playoff trips.
The championship is the fourth for coach Danny Horn and Clay
County.
