Summary:
         The Briarwood Lions dominated every phase of the 5A championship game in 2003. They spotted Russellville an 83-yard touchdown run on their first play from scrimmage before taking control of the football game.
         The Lions answered the quick Russellville score with a 74 yard march in nine plays to tie the score. Simeon Castille capped the drive with a 10-yard run. Following a Russellville fumble near midfield, the Lions scored in another five play drive to take a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
         MVP Joe Craddick threw for 152 yards and rushed for 87 yards to lead the Lions. Briarwood added seventeen second half pints to win 31-7.
