Summary: Twice Addison turned fourth downs into touchdowns as
they rallied to defeat Brantley 21-12 in the battle of the Bulldogs for the Class 1A
state championship at Legion Field.
Trailing 12-0 and facing fourth-and-two at its 40-yard line late in the first half, Brantley jumped offside giving Addison its first first down of the game with 2:02
left in the half. Addison then completed a 68-yard, 14-play scoring drive,
culminating in a Jake Gilliland 4-yard pass to Caleb Parker on fourth and goal to
cut the lead to 12-7 with 11 seconds left in the half.
Addison drove 65 yards in 14 plays on their first
possession of the third quarter to take a 14-12 lead on Parker's 2-yard run.
Brantley ran only 11 plays for 26 yards in the second half after
having 27 plays for 209 yards in the first half. Addison closed
out the scoring on Gilliland's 28-yard touchdown pass to Blake Turner with 9:54 remaining in the
game.
