Summary:
          Eufaula drove from its own 3-yard line to the Athens 27 in the final 6:38 to set up a game-tying field goal in the  Class 5A state football championship game. With six seconds remaining, George McCullough's 44-yard field goal attempt came up short and Athens pulled out a 10-7 win to claim the school's first state championship since 1976.
          MVP Rob Ezell completed 15-of-22 passing for 181 yards and rushed for 36 yards on 12 carries. He accounted for 217 of Athens' 228 total yards.
          Eufaula tied the game at 7-7 in the second quarter with a 91-yard, 12-play drive that took over six minutes. The touchdown came on Xavier Crews' 5-yard run with 1:17 remaining in the half.
          Athens scored as time expired in the first half on a 23-yard field goal by Matt Jackson to take a 10-7 lead into the half. Neither team scored in the second half and the score held up.
