Summary:
The Central High School Falcons capped an undefeated season with a 34-7 victory against the Deshler Tigers to claim the
2007 Class 4A high school state football championship at Legion Field.
Central spotted Deshler an early touchdown, then scored 28 unanswered points in the first half, virtually securing their first state
championship since a Class 6A crown in 1995 by halftime. Derrick
Cade added a late fourth quarter touchdown to cap the scoring.
Just before halftime, Jonathan Edwards made a spectacular one-handed interception at the Central 21 and headed
down the left sideline. As he was about to be tackled, he pitched the ball to
Trevon Lawson at the 30 who raced down the sideline to complete a 70-yard interception return with 34 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
