2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Dallas County finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Dallas County just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region three with a 2-4 region record. The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2002 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Dallas County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Hornets want to be competitive. They only averaged 14.5 points a game. Dallas County struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 36.7 points a game. Since 2010, Dallas County has gone a combined 25-57. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 4A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Dallas County has managed to compile a record of 101-151. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 4A and 275th in the AHSAA. The Hornets will be under the direction of new head football coach Zeke Pigg as they enter the 2018 season. The Dallas County Hornets will play in Class 4A region three during the 2018 season. The Hornets may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region three this year. With a little luck and some improvement, the Hornets could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region three this season. Dallas County came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. The Hornets open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent McAdory on Friday, August 31 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the McAdory Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in second place in Class 6A region four. The Yellow Jackets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Carver Montgomery by a score of 13-7. Dallas County and McAdory have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-6-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2017 with McAdory winning by a score of 34-0. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
