 2018 Preview

Geneva completed the 2017 season with a 7-3 record. Last year Geneva just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region two with a 4-3 region record.

The Panthers won as many games as in any season since 2007.

Since 2010, Geneva has gone a combined 32-48. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 3A over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Geneva has managed to compile a record of 144-112. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 3A and 132nd in the AHSAA.

The Panthers are led by head coach Les Sanders who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 14-15 over the past three seasons at Geneva. The Panthers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Sanders.

Coach Sanders' overall record as a head football coach in eight season stands at 54-35 (60.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Sanders' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won one region championship.

The Geneva Panthers will play in Class 3A region two during the 2018 season.

The Panthers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. Geneva has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2014 but hope to return to the post season this year.

The Panthers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Geneva County on Friday, August 31 at Dixie Howell Stadium. Last year the Geneva County Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 2A region two. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Thorsby by a score of 42-14.

Geneva and Geneva County have met a total of 81 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 44-35-2 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2003 with Geneva winning by a score of 24-20.
