2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Calhoun finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Calhoun finished seventh in Class 2A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 1999 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 1999 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Calhoun averaged scoring just 1.2 points a game. The Tigers also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 52.1 points a game. The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the Calhoun football program has struggled with a record of 10-70. Over the past 25 seasons, Calhoun has not won much with a record of 45-196. Their 19.0% winning percentage ranks 56th in Class 2A and 375th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have struggled on the football field with only four winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 1999. The Tigers are led by head coach Ervin Starr who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Calhoun. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Starr. The Calhoun Tigers will play in Class 2A region three during the 2018 season. The Tigers enter the 2018 season in the middle of a 31 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region three. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Calhoun will be to simply win some games. The Tigers open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Pike Road on Friday, August 24. Calhoun and Pike Road have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-4-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
