2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
LeFlore finished the 2017 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year LeFlore finished sixth in Class 6A region one with a 3-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. LeFlore was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Rattlers want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.8 points a game. Since 2010, LeFlore has gone a combined 28-56. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 5A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, LeFlore has managed to compile a record of 100-152. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 5A and 280th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010. The Rattlers are led by head coach Anthony Shamburger who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-43 over the past six seasons at LeFlore. Under his direction the Rattlers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Shamburger. Coach Shamburger's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 44-73 (37.6%). Over the course of his career, Coach Shamburger's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times and won one region championship. The LeFlore Rattlers will play in Class 5A region one during the 2018 season. The Rattlers may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 6A to 5A. They will compete in region one this year. With a little luck and some improvement, the Rattlers could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. LeFlore has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2013 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Rattlers open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent B.C. Rain on Thursday, August 23 at Prichard Stadium. Last year the B.C. Rain Red Raiders finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in eighth place in Class 6A region one. The Red Raiders closed out the regular season with a loss to Saraland by a score of 35-12. LeFlore and B.C. Rain have met a total of 21 times on the football field. The Rattlers have a 7-14-0 record against the Red Raiders. They last met in 2017 with LeFlore winning by a score of 22-10. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
