2018 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Shades Valley completed the 2017 season with a 8-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region five, the Mounties earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Shades Valley reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Austin by a score of 42-35. It marked the first time since the 2014 season that the Mounties qualified for the playoffs. Since 2010, Shades Valley has gone a combined 42-45. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 6A over the past eight seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Shades Valley has managed to compile a record of 126-140. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 6A and 225th in the AHSAA. The Mounties are led by head coach David Partridge who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 15-17 over the past three seasons at Shades Valley. Under his direction the Mounties have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Partridge. Coach Partridge's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 15-17 (46.9%). The Shades Valley Mounties will play in Class 6A region six during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Mounties remain in 6A but move from region five over to region six. The Mounties have one of the toughest schedules in Class 6A. Their opponents had a combined record of 75-41 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 6A and 12th in the AHSAA. Shades Valley will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season. Region six will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. It will be an uphill battle for the Mounties if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region six this season. Unfortunately, Shades Valley finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason. The Mounties open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent Jackson-Olin on Thursday, August 30 at J-O Field. Last year the Jackson-Olin Mustangs finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in sixth place in Class 6A region five. The Mustangs ended last season on a positive note with a win over Fairfield by a score of 41-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Shades Valley and Jackson-Olin have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Mounties have a 2-2-0 record against the Mustangs. They last met in 2017 with Shades Valley winning by a score of 30-7. Shades Valley returns 6A All-State receiver KeiAndre Sanders. He was named to the second team last season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
