 2022 Preview 


       Alabama Christian completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Alabama Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jacksonville by a score of 42-21.

       Since 2010, Alabama Christian has gone a combined 58-73. Their 44.3% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Alabama Christian has managed to compile a record of 122-145. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 3A and 227th in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles are led by head coach Michael Summers who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Alabama Christian. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Summers.

       Coach Summers' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 7-4 (63.6%).

       The Alabama Christian Eagles will play in Class 3A region three during the 2022 season. The Eagles may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 4A to 3A. They will compete in region three this year. The Eagles have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 70-45 last season. That ranks 4th in Class 3A and 30th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles should be in contention for a playoff spot in region three this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2015 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2022.

       The Eagles open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Catholic Montgomery on Friday, August 26 at Eagles Stadium. Last year the Catholic Montgomery Knights finished with an overall record of 13-1 and in first place in Class 3A region four. The Knights lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Montgomery Academy by a score of 10-7.

       Alabama Christian and Catholic Montgomery have met a total of 43 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 23-20-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2019 with Catholic Montgomery winning by a score of 52-13.
