2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Daleville finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Daleville finished seventh in Class 3A region two with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Warhawks lost as many games as in any season since 2004. The defense allowed a team record 512 points last season. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Daleville averaged scoring just 10.0 points a game. The Warhawks also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 51.2 points a game. The Warhawks would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 1-19 record. Since 2010, Daleville has gone a combined 70-59. Their 54.3% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Daleville has managed to compile a record of 143-128. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 3A and 162nd in the AHSAA. The Warhawks are led by head coach Will Garner who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Daleville. The Warhawks have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Garner. The Daleville Warhawks will play in Class 3A region two during the 2022 season. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Warhawks enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Warhawks will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Daleville will be to simply win some games. The Warhawks open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Goshen on Friday, August 19 at Goshen Field. Last year the Goshen Eagles finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 3A region four. Daleville and Goshen have met a total of 11 times on the football field. The Warhawks have a 6-2-3 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2003 with Daleville winning by a score of 32-13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
