 2022 Preview 


       Demopolis completed the 2021 season with a 7-5 record. Last year Demopolis captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 6-0 record. Demopolis reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Andalusia by a score of 48-26.

       The Tigers lost as many games as in any season since 2011. The Tigers had some tough luck last season as three of their five losses were by less than eight points.

       Since 2010, Demopolis has gone a combined 101-42. Their 70.6% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Demopolis has gone a combined 228-75. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 5A and 15th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-five winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1994.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Brian Seymore who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 46-16 over the past five seasons at Demopolis. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Seymore.

       Coach Seymore's overall record as a head football coach in sixteen season stands at 115-64 (64.2%). His 115 wins rank 49th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Seymore's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times and won six region championships.

       The Demopolis Tigers will play in Class 5A region three during the 2022 season. The Tigers have one of the toughest schedules in Class 5A. Their opponents had a combined record of 66-50 last season. That ranks 4th in Class 5A and 69th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers enter the 2022 season having won 6 straight region games.

       The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1995 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent American Christian on Friday, August 19 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the American Christian Patriots finished with an overall record of 11-2 and in first place in Class 4A region three. The Patriots lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Vigor by a score of 26-10.

       Demopolis and American Christian have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 4-0-0 record against the Patriots. They last met in 2013 with Demopolis winning by a score of 35-0.
