 2022 Preview 


       Grissom finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Grissom finished seventh in Class 7A region four with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Grissom was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.4 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Grissom football program has struggled with a record of 25-96.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Grissom has not won much with a record of 84-174. Their 33.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 7A and 332nd in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Rich Dutton who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Grissom. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Dutton.

       Coach Dutton's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 41-63 (39.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Dutton's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

       The Grissom Tigers will play in Class 7A region four during the 2022 season.

       This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region four.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Russellville on Friday, August 19 at Milton Frank Stadium. Last year the Russellville Golden Tigers finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in first place in Class 5A region eight. The Golden Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Fairview by a score of 35-21.
