The Huskies will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season. The Huskies open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Central Phenix City on Friday, August 19 at Garrett-Harrison Stadium. Last year the Central Phenix City Red Devils finished with an overall record of 13-1 and in first place in Class 7A region two. The Red Devils lost in the Class 7A State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Thompson. They final score was 38-22 in the Super Seven finals in Birmingham. Hewitt-Trussville and Central Phenix City have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Huskies have a 0-2-0 record against the Red Devils. They last met in with Hewitt-Trussville returns 7A All-State defensive lineman Hunter Osborne.
