 2022 Preview 


       Ohatchee completed the 2021 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region five, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Ohatchee reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Winfield by a score of 56-27.

       Since 2010, Ohatchee has gone a combined 74-59. Their 55.6% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Ohatchee has managed to compile a record of 137-132. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 3A and 179th in the AHSAA.




       The Indians will be under the direction of new head football coach Chris Findley as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Findley was an assistant coach on the staff at Ohatchee last season.

       The Ohatchee Indians will play in Class 3A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Indians remain in 3A but move from region five over to region six. The Indians have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 68-45 last season. That ranks 6th in Class 3A and 39th in the AHSAA.

       The Indians enter the 2022 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

       The Indians should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2015 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2022.

       The Indians open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Saks on Friday, August 19 at Jack Stewart Field. Last year the Saks Wildcats finished with an overall record of 12-2 and in first place in Class 3A region five. The Wildcats lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Piedmont by a score of 52-44.

       Ohatchee and Saks have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Indians have a 6-3-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2021 with Saks winning by a score of 16-7.
