Sylacauga completed the 2021 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region four, the Aggies earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Sylacauga's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Andalusia by a score of 42-7. Since 2010, Sylacauga has gone a combined 88-43. Their 67.2% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 5A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Sylacauga has managed to compile a record of 162-110. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 5A and 96th in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2007. The Aggies are led by head coach Rob Carter who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Sylacauga. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Carter. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2011 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2022. The Aggies open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Benjamin Russell on Thursday, August 18 at Legion Stadium. Last year the Benjamin Russell Wildcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 6A region three. The Wildcats ended last season on a positive note with a win over Sylacauga by a score of 35-28 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Sylacauga and Benjamin Russell have met a total of 62 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 16-41-5 record against the Wildcats.
