 2022 Preview 


       Valley Head completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region seven, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Valley Head's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Ragland by a score of 28-20.

       Since 2010, Valley Head has gone a combined 52-68. Their 43.3% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Valley Head has managed to compile a record of 107-150. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 1A and 270th in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Charles Hammon who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 23-30 over the past five seasons at Valley Head. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hammon.

       Coach Hammon's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 23-30 (43.4%).

       The Valley Head Tigers will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2022 season.

       The Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent North Sand Mountain on Friday, August 19 at Lloyds Dobbins Field. Last year the North Sand Mountain Bison finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 2A region seven. The Bison lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Midfield by a score of 34-20.

       Valley Head and North Sand Mountain have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 12-8-0 record against the Bison. They last met in 2003 with Valley Head winning by a score of 43-20.

       Valley Head returns 1A All-State Senior running back Eian Bain. He was named to the first team last season.
