Decatur Heritage Christian completed the 2021 season with a 10-3 record. Last year Decatur Heritage Christian captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Decatur Heritage Christian lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Pickens County team by a score of 60-46. The 559 points scored by the Eagles last year were a team record in a single season. The high-scoring Decatur Heritage Christian offense ranked 8th in the AHSAA. They averaged 43.0 points a game. The Eagles have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Eagles open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Section on Friday, August 19 at Section Stadium. Last year the Section Lions finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 2A region seven. The Lions ended last season on a positive note with a win over Woodville by a score of 53-6 after failing to gain a playoff spot.
