 2022 Preview 


       Etowah completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 5-1 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region six, the Blue Devils earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Etowah's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Priceville by a score of 31-14.

       The Blue Devils lost as many games as in any season since 2014.

       Since 2010, Etowah has gone a combined 99-41. Their 70.7% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Etowah has gone a combined 195-92. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class 4A and 48th in the AHSAA. The Blue Devils have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2009.




       The Blue Devils will be under the direction of new head football coach Matt Glover as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Glover was the defensive coordinator at Clay-Chalkville in 2021.

       Coach Glover's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 76-70 (52.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Glover's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times .

       The Etowah Blue Devils will play in Class 4A region six during the 2022 season.

       The Blue Devils should be considered one of the favorites for the region six championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Blue Devils have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2009 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Blue Devils open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Springville on Thursday, August 18 at Jim Glover Field. Last year the Springville Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 6A region seven. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Moody by a score of 22-13.

       Etowah and Springville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Blue Devils have a 1-1-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in with

       Etowah returns 4A All-State Senior receiver Omareon Finch. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
